Methven Family Wines

2008 Chardonnay

From the single acre of Chardonnay planted on the estate, this barrel fermented wine shows a brilliant pale-straw hue. An anise and smoky butterscotch nose showcase the Oregon oak barrels that were used for half of the wine. Flavors of ripe pear and white fruit fill the mouth. The finish is succulent and well structured. This wine should be spectacular with rich foods that push  into red territory.

2007 Pinot Gris

Brilliant white golden colors catch your eye as the flavors of honeydew melon and lime spring from the glass. Aromas of Jasmine and Lavender are complimented by a racy “sweet-tart” flavor on the front end of the palate. A rich, round mid-palate allows for the sweetness to balance with the acidity. The crispness of the finish makes this wine a perfect compliment to most food choices.

2008 Riesling

Aromas of honeysuckle, baked apple and pear fill the nose. The mouth is racy and bright with excellent acidity. The finish has flavors rich in lime, apple and pear leading to a crisp, stony finish that lingers in the mouth with a hint of lemon zest. Our 2008 Riesling will drink amazingly well young, pairing with just about anything you can throw at it, and will age beautifully for 5-9 years or more if cellared carefully.

2007 Citizen's Cuvee Pinot Noir

From the Methven Family Estate, this is a very demure Pinot Noir. The nose is elegant, with dried flowers, rose hip, and hints of menthol. The mid-palate flavors are ripe with red fruits and bright cherry. This wine finishes soft and clean, with fine tannins. Although it drinks brilliant now, cellaring for 3-5 more years would show classic pinot noir evolution.

2006 Pinot Noir - Willamette Valley

This wine was crafted from new estate vines and older vines from Elton Vineyards. Wonderfully complex aromas of root beer, pine pitch, and vanilla, vaporize out of the glass. The mouth-feel is velvety and supple, with flavors of currant jam and cassis. White-pepper and alcohol add a thrilling finish to the wine, making this a powerful, full-bodied food wine.

2006 Pinot Noir - Reserve

Deep ruby red coloring leads to an aromatic profile of rich dark fruit, plum and spice. Flavors of bright cherry. blackberry, and sweet spices such as cinnamon and clove lead to a generous gracefulness on the palate. The finish is expressed with white pepper and earthiness leading to a very long finish that showcases this vintages depth.

2005 Pinot Noir - Willamette Valley

Ripe and dark raspberry and marionberry aromas explode from the glass with hints of violets and an incense-like palate of spicy oak tones including cinnamon, clove and vanilla.  The palate is generous and ample with a sweet attack of lush black cherry liqueur, coffee and tobacco with smoky fine-grained tannins lending to the long and impressive finish.

2005 Pinot Noir - Reserve

A barrel selection from the Elton, Durant and Skinner Vineyards in the Eola Hills, Dundee Hills and Chehalem Mountains respectively, the 2005 Reserve Pinot Noir was blended from the most opulent and impressive new French Oak Barrels 14 months after harvest. These old-vine vineyards have been well-known amongst winemaking pioneers in Oregon since the late 70s and early 80s for their quality and unique terroirs. At only 1.5 tons per acre in each vineyard (and less than 0.75 tons per acre in Skinner!) we were able to showcase how attractive Oregon Pinot Noir can be. This wine is a blockbuster with smoky rich aromas of blackberry pie, barrel char, forest floor and sweet, intense oak spices. Young now, the sweet palate is high-toned with red and black fruits intertwined in a mouthwatering and juicy red raspberry and cherry silky texture, echoing the smoky and pungent aromas in the mouth with saddle leather and pipe tobacco. The finish is long and ripely tannic yet smooth and decadent.

Drink now through 2016.
